Medicare Part A Nashville

All Medicare beneficiaries need to start with Original Medicare, which includes parts A and B. Part A includes inpatient hospital, hospice, skilled nursing facility, and home health coverage. Premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments may apply.  

If you were employed and paid Medicare taxes for at least 40 quarters (about ten years), or if you get retirement benefits from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board, you may have premium-free Part A (premium-free does not necessarily excuse you from other costs). If you only worked for between 30 and 39 quarters, your Part A premium will be $240/month in 2019. If you worked for less than 30 quarters, your Part A premium will be $437/month in 2019.

Medicare Part B Nashville

Part B includes outpatient care, preventative services (like your annual wellness visit), outpatient mental health, lab tests/X-rays, emergency transportation, and durable medical equipment. Premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments may apply.

Medicare Advantage Nashville

Medicare Advantage is sometimes called “Part C.” Original Medicare (parts A and B) can seem quite limited. Part C plans are offered by private insurers and can add additional benefits. Medicare Advantage plans can include benefits like prescription drugs, dental, vision, meal delivery, non-emergency medical transportation, physical fitness, and more.

Medicare Dental Benefits in Nashville

Medicare Part B covers jaw diseases, oral cancer, face tumors, or face fracture-related procedures and infections caused by dental procedures, and Part A may cover oral examinations if they are related to another hospital stay. However, Original Medicare does not cover important services like routine exams and cleanings, dentures, denture care, fillings, or pullings. You may be able to fill those gaps with either a standalone dental plan or a Medicare Advantage plan.

Low-Income Dental Care Nashville, TN | Interfaith Dental

Can’t afford to add any kind of dental coverage? We get it, it’s expensive.

We work closely with an organization called Interfaith Dental in Middle Tennessee. Interfaith provides low-cost dental care to Middle Tennessee families and individuals in need. To be eligible, you must be uninsured, suffering from poor dental health, and living with an income below the federal poverty line.

To get started with Interfaith Dental, you’ll have to call and answer a few questions:

If the patient coordinator that you speak with believes that you may be eligible, he or she will tell you when the next “application day” is. On that day, you’ll need to come to your nearest Interfaith Dental office to complete your application. For that application, you’ll need your most recent tax return, recent pay stubs for your household, proof of address, and your ID.

Medicare Drug Plan Nashville

If Medicare Supplements or Medicare Advantage plans don’t feel right to you, let’s talk about another option. You could keep your Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) coverage and add a standalone “Part D” plan for prescription drug benefits. You may also hear Part D called “PDPs,” or “Prescription Drug Plans.”

Medicare Part D plans generally only cover prescription drugs, nothing else. Plans can vary greatly in cost based on the types of drugs that are covered and how much coverage you have. Medicare Urgent Care in Nashville

Medicare covers urgent care facilities similarly to doctor’s offices. It’s important to know where the nearest urgent care facility is to you. Urgent care is a great place to go if you’re having a health emergency that is NOT so urgent that you need to go to the emergency room. Access Ride: MTA Access Ride provides transportation Monday through Friday for those over the age of 60. Transportation is available to meal sites, medical appointments, etc.

Aging and Disability Program: The GNRS (Greater Nashville Regional Council) Aging and Disability program helps connect Nashville seniors with a variety of programs that can increase quality of life. Call the helpline for information, referrals, and assessments Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM at 615-225-1010.

FiftyForward: FiftyForward is a program for Middle Tennessee adults over the age of 50. Members are able to participate in group vacations, local excursions, and a variety of events. 

Nutrition Program: People in Davidson County over the age of 60 (or under 60 and disabled) may be eligible to receive either home-delivered meals or meals at congregate sites. Meal sites are open Monday through Friday for 4.5 hours per day. Referrals are required for home-delivered meals. For congregate meal centers, call the nearest location to you to find out if you’re eligible.
